The Delta of the Irrawaddy River in the South of Myanmar is populated by 6 million in habitants living under extreme conditions. Six months a year, the monsoon floods the Delta and turns the ground into an impracticable muddy land. The villages are then only accessible by boat through a labyrinth of channels around the mangroves. The 2nd and 3rd May 2008, the tropical cyclone Nargis devastated the area taking the lives of more than 138'000 people.
